Travelan™

Travellers’ Diarrhoea is a major problem for travellers to tropical and subtropical regions and is mostly caused by Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC). Immuron’s Travelan™ anti-ETEC antibody product is a caplet taken regularly while a traveller is in a risk situation to prevent Travellers’ Diarrhoea.

Antibodies against the ETEC bacterial structures have been shown in several placebo controlled clinical trials in Europe and the USA to prevent Travellers’ Diarrhoea. These bacteria-specific antibodies prevent the attachment of Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) to the mucosal cells of the small intestine thereby preventing the bacteria from releasing toxins into these cells.

Travelan™ was licensed to Nycomed for marketing and distribution in Australia and New Zealand in May 2010.

Travelan™ is marketed in pharmacies in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
